Company knowledge for AI
An AI knowledge base your whole company, and every AI tool, reads from
What it is
An AI knowledge base is a structured, written record of what a company knows: its facts, its voice, its customers, its rules. AI tools read from it so they answer as the company would. MKTNG builds these for small and mid-sized companies. Ours is called Groundwork. It's written in plain, open-format files that you own and any AI tool can read.
Every tool you've bought learned a different company
Your website says one thing. The proposal template says another. ChatGPT, asked by three employees, describes three slightly different businesses. It's the same cause each time: every tool was taught separately, by whoever set it up, from whatever they remembered that day.
People call the fix a company brain, a brand brain, a single source of truth, or RAG for business. They all mean the same thing: write the company down once, then point everything at it.
What goes in it
What's true: services, prices you're willing to state, service area, credentials, the numbers you can prove. How you talk: the phrases you use and the ones you'd never say. Who you serve, and who you turn away. What you won't say: the claims legal would flag, the promises operations can't keep.
We build it for one department first. The first build ships on top of it, and every later project starts from it.
Plain files you own
A knowledge base inside one vendor's product is only useful while you pay that vendor. Groundwork is written in the Open Knowledge Format, an open specification from Google Cloud. In practice that means ordinary text files in folders. Your team can open them in any editor. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and any agent can read them. If we part ways, the files go with you, intact.
It gets sharper because the systems report back
A knowledge base that nobody updates is stale within a quarter. Ours has systems attached that report back. Proposals show which sections got read. The CRM shows which leads converted. The agent watches both and briefs you, and what you learn goes back into the record. Every change is a person's decision.
We run MKTNG this way. Our own record is what our site, our proposals, and our agent all read from.
Where it shows up first
For a sales-led company, it's usually under an AI agent in the CRM. For a communications or marketing team, it sits underneath the AI tools people already use, so whoever hits send works from the same facts.
It starts with a Working Session.
One conversation with your team about where you want AI to take the company, and what you're working with today. It's step one of six, and the start of Discovery and Roadmap.

Questions we get
What is an AI knowledge base?
An AI knowledge base is a written, structured record of a company's facts, voice, audiences, and rules that AI tools read from, so their answers match the company. It differs from a help-center knowledge base, which is written for customers to read.
What is a company brain?
"Company brain" is another name for the same idea: one shared record of what the company knows, used by both people and AI tools. Communications teams often call it a brand brain.
Is this the same as RAG?
Related. RAG, or retrieval-augmented generation, is the technique an AI tool uses to look things up before answering. The knowledge base is what it looks up. RAG on top of messy documents returns messy answers. The record has to be curated first.
How is this different from putting documents in a shared drive or a custom GPT?
A shared drive holds every version of everything, and the AI can't tell which one is current. A custom GPT works in one tool for one person. A curated record in open files works across every tool, and there's one place to change a fact.
Do we own the knowledge base?
Yes. The files are yours, in an open format, readable without MKTNG or any specific software.
How long does it take to build?
We build it for one department first, alongside the first project, so it's in use within weeks.
What is Groundwork?
Groundwork is MKTNG's name for the knowledge base we build and maintain: the structured record of your company that your website, proposals, and agents all read from.
