February marks the closing out of our first year at MKTNG. What started as a kernel of hope, ideals, and an entrepreneurial itch has blossomed into an enterprise that exceeded even my own expectations in our first year. MKTNG has laid the foundations of a thriving, badass agency!
We experienced some huge successes in our first year. Here are some of the highlights…
- 5.4 Million dollars raised providing services before and during the Big Day of Giving
- $800,000 short of one million in revenue 🙂
- 10,000 # of Facebook fans we found for clients
- 700 Attendees to our very first concert, hosted at Palladio with Yelp
- 6 New logos and/or brand identities created (we feel like they’re our children)
- > 60 press stories we obtained for our clients
- 2 Partner events with our friends at Yelp
As you might expect, our first year came with much we did not expect. Becoming a concert promoter for instance, or having the opportunity to rebrand so many companies. In one particular instance we actually consulted with a client and launched a new business based on an opportunity they had not perceived. We brought on our first public relations client, Eskaton, and we are still wrapping up an incredibly successful project with M5Arts and Concerts for Charity for the Art Hotel.
Most beneficial this year has been how our team has come together. MKTNG has been fortunate to attract a delightful combination of talent to our team. The core of our team, Angela Antill, has done an incredible job at keeping the wheels on at MKTNG, assuring all of our client’s deadlines and expectations are met. Angela also celebrates her first year with MKTNG this month. Erica Brown, our most recent hire could not have started soon enough. She has been integral at managing our client’s social media, as well as performing a variety of public relations services. Tom Beauchamp, our Creative Director, has been an amazing cultural fit for MKTNG, seeing the abstract and a sort of ‘otherliness’ that helps to elevate our client’s brands. His comprehensive sense of design has translated across all of the industries we have served. John Morgan is another who has joined us recently. John and I have worked together previously, so I nearly insisted he come onboard and make a home for himself, which he has done quite successfully.
We have celebrated our successes by adding company sponsored healthcare to our list of employee benefits, in addition to two weeks of vacation, nine company holidays, and a healthy workplace culture. As an entrepreneur, it has been incredibly rewarding to be able to offer benefits and take care of my team.
For certain, this coming year will offer its own successes, and we know to expect the unexpected. More than ever, we are confident of our capabilities, grateful for our clients and partners, and ready to meet tomorrow’s challenges as a team.
